I’m staffing a meeting today…

… which likely means more inane posts than usual. Greetings from “Hotel XYZ” in Washington, DC (names of locations removed to protect the innocent), where I’m sitting in on an absolutely riveting logistics and meeting programming meeting (doesn’t my obvious enthusiasm just ooze out of every word I’m writing right now?). Sitting here thinking about how infrequently I get to update my blog and whatnot. Thinking about this missile defense issue between us and Russia, and President Bush’s stomach virus and that runaway girl that was found under the care of a known weirdo with a history of inappropriate relations with young girls. This world sure is messed up sometimes, ain’t it?

This recent business with the European missile shield has me a little baffled. Has someone rolled back the clock to 1983 or something? Are we still in the Cold War? Does it really matter whether the shield operates from the Czech Republic and Poland or from Azerbaijan, or is this just an attempt by the Russians to say, “Hey, we’re still here and we still have a sense of hegemony over Eastern Europe (as diminished as that sense is), and we want a say in this”? Of course, it is good that both sides (why are we still polarizing ourselves like this, by the way?) are willing to talk this out instead of having this devolve further into name-calling and saber-rattling. I guess we’ll see what happens with this.

In the meantime, maybe Bush should lay off the crab dip. 😉
