Picked up the latest in Star Wars’ Legacy of the Force arc, Exile, today. Not too far into that one yet. Will report later if it’s decent. I’ve also been rereading Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game (excellent book, if you’re into sci-fi) and have been tossing around whether to give A Tale of Two Cities and The Count of Monte Cristo rereads sooner rather than later (I try to go back over the classics every few years).
I was watching ESPN late last month and they were doing a story on a lost era in hockey history, a league in the Maritimes around the turn of last century known as the Colored Hockey League, and a book that two hockey historians had wrote about it a couple years back. I’d heard of the league, sort of in passing, when I read Cecil Harris’ book, Breaking the Ice (Amazon link), which is a good chronicle of most of the black folks that have played in the NHL over the years, but Black Ice by the Fosty brothers (Amazon link) is looking like something close to a definitive history of the CHL. I’m definitely gonna pick that one up.
